IBLP Authority Lessons for Teens
Free Lessons for Teens based on Institute in Basic Youth Conflicts -
Research in Principles of Life. The Lessons below are to be used with the big, red, text book from IBLP seminar# 1. We have created these lessons in the manner in which we wanted to teach our teens. Feel free to modify and adjust them according to your convictions and personal beliefs. Hopefully we have created them in an easy format for you to print out. Please see Link below to Teacher Notes page that contains ideas, suggestions and answers.
Lesson 1 - Structures of Authority
Read pages 24-26. From page 25 write the four basic structures of authority
and write at least one scripture for each structure.
Lesson 2 - Parental Authority
Read pages 27-29.
1) If we push away or try to get out from under our parent's authority, what does God do? (See p.27)
2) If we continue to reject correction (reproofs) from the authority in our lives, what warnings might we see? (p.28)
Put yourself in the position of a parent and answer the questions on page 29. Add an option "C" as other if you do not agree with choice A or B. Explain clearly, in your own words what you would advise each person and why.
Be prepared to discuss with your parents the methods or circumstances you
feel God would use to develop character in you.
Lesson 3 Attitudes & Intentions
Review your answers from page 29 again. Then read page 30 & 31. For each illustration, write the necessary attitudes and behavior that would be necessary for each one to correctly appeal to their parents and explain why you think they should submit to their parents authority for reasons other than it is God's will or it's the right thing to do. Have an open mind and the right attitude to hear your parents opinions. Be open and honest with your answers. Read page 32 to help you discuss alternatives with your parents for each illustration.
